Gulrez Hoda IAS (Retd.)
Ex-Director, World Bank, Washington DC
Mr. Gulrez Hoda, is a 1977 batch IAS officer and a former member of the Bihar State Planning Board. He worked for twenty years with the World Bank, first as an Adviser to the Executive Director for India and later in the private financing arm, the International Finance Corporation (IFC). In IFC he has managed investments in the financial, infrastructure, petrochemical and energy sectors. For the last three years in IFC he was Director for Infrastructure and Natural Resources, for Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa, based in Turkey. Prior to joining the World Bank in 1992, he was posted in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Mr. Hoda is President and Managing Trustee of Hikmat Foundation, a public charitable trust working on girl education. Mr Hoda is based in Lauriya Nandangarh, West Champaran, Bihar. and runs two high schools for girls. He received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from St Stephen’s College and post-graduate degrees in Economics and Finance from the University of Delhi and George Washington University, USA.
